There are a lot of different educational resources out there in the world wide web.
Allow me to briefly describe three of them that I've found.

This is a cute little blog about a school that uses some really cute ideas. It is a great place where the teachers and the students can view what is going on in the class. They have a link for the word wall words. There is also a link to individual students Blogfolios.

This blog is another that gives a basic day to day summary of what goes on in the classroom. They have some pretty good ideas. They also have a great link to 16 Habits of Mind. They break up these great habits of mind for each grade. I think that they are really great and good to teach kids.

This is another blog very similar to the first two. I really liked the idea of making a class garden. (Find the post here) They planted it in a bathtub and I just thought it would be a great idea.
I followed the first 2 blogs on here using RSS

Random fact #4
I've been in three car accidents.
I've had three cars. That's one accident per car for those who can't do math.
The first did the most damage. For my first car I bought a 1987 Plymuth Sundance. It was red and only had two doors. The passenger side door was broken and only opened from the outside if you jiggled the handle for like an hour. I loved that little red car sooo much. It went from 0 to 60 in 60 minutes. It was so reliable.
One day I had to take it to get safety and emissions. It failed. Apparently you have to have working locks on your car doors in order to pass and my car didn't. As I left the mechanic place, I got in my accident and totaled my baby. How ironic. I was going through an unmarked intersection at the same time as another car and we unfortunately met in the middle.
The second accident was the worst for me personally. I was driving my brand new Hundai Sonata. (which was purchased after the sundance kicked it.) I was taking my siblings to school and then heading back home tosleep through my first class. (I would never skip class!) While in the parking lot, I tried to squeeze through a little opening between cars and a pole. I hit something. I thought it was the pole so I drove off. Next thing I know, I'm in third period (AP physiology) and I get called down to the office. As I'm walking toward the office I see a Payson city cop. Surely he's not here for me. Oh what do you know he was. The pole had really been a car and someone had reported my license plate # as a hit and run. Oh man those were some good times.
The third accident happened just months ago. I rear ended someone in the loop by the TSC. No damages were done and we both drove off.
I'm really not a bad driver...I promise :)

Random fact #3
I waited in line to see the premier of HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 3!!!
Not only was I 17 years old, I was also studying for the ACT meanwhile I waited for the movie to begin.
I was pretty awesome.
Clearly I'm not ashamed of my love for Zac Efron.

Bring Him Home.
10 Years ago today I was in Mrs. Fletcher's 5th grade class.
Earlier that morning my parents had the TV on watching buildings in New York catch on fire.
I didn't know what was going on.

10 Years ago today I heard the word terrorist for the first time.
We watched the news all day long in my classroom waiting to hear what happened.
My teacher tearfully tried to explain the turmoil that was happening far away, yet effected us so much.

I didn't know what was happening, I just knew it wasn't good.
I knew many people had lost their lives.

10 Years ago today I didn't sleep.
I stayed up in my mom and dad's bed trying to make sense of everything.
I watched I Love Lucy and Dick Van Dyke to block out the terror in my mind.

10 Years ago today many lost their lives defending my freedom.
Innocent and unsuspecting people were killed.
Children just like me lost mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents.

10 Years ago today our nation was attacked.
I will never forget this day.
I am and will always be grateful for those willing to risk their own lives so I have the freedom to get up in the morning and go to school. The people who leave their life of freedom to ensure that I could freely worship as I pleased today.
"These acts of mass murder were intended to frighten our nation into chaos and retreat but they have failed...None of us will ever forget this day. Thank you and God Bless America."

Golden.
Last weekend was GOLDEN ONION DAYS in Payson! What a great time!
We ran the Onion Days 5k. If you read my weight loss blog {which sucks....so sorry if you read it maybe someday I'll be good at losing weight :) } You may recall that I had been training for this. It was a pretty good race. I finished the first mile in 12 min. My final time was 46 min 31 sec. {don't judge} I averaged 15 min miles. Not too shabby if you ask me! There will only be improvement from here!
We were the Beckert Family Runners... Kinda like the Von trapp Family Singers...only better.
My brother really really loves getting his picture taken.
We had an exciting family BBQ complete with Smurfing and Ticket to Ride.
We also went to a neighborhood BBQ. Which was equally exciting.
We are some HAPPY runners! |

This is classy. A new addition to the Onion Days celebration was this bad boy. It's a monster truck if you can't tell. They created a monster truck "course" in a field where you could pay 5 big ones and ride over hills and smashed cars while strapped into this vehicle. That's the way we do it.
And then Carlie got asked to Homecoming! How exciting!!

Children.
***I have a lot that needs to get done on my bloggy to-do list. Who knows if it ever will...in the meantime please enjoy some random, pointless posts. :)
Some days I'm terrible and say to my self.....
"Self, I'm never having children."
and then my self responds with...
"good idea"
and all is well and good.
Then I go to work at my wonderful job. And I say to my self....
"Self, perhaps I should have children."
and then my self responds with...
"Ok....but perhaps you should have someone else raise them until they are in 1st grade then you can take over."
and I say..
"Self you are brilliant."
Then I go to Costco on a Saturday.
And I say to my self...
"Self I'm never having children!"
and my self responds with
"Maybe you could just never bring them to Costco."
And I say to my self.
"Nope not havin em'."
Then I go to church with my mom and help in the nursery.
And I say to myself
"Self, I neeeed to have children just like this."
and my self says,
"DUH! of course you are going to have children!"
and I say....
"Oi. That will be interesting."
Now for the point of all this mumbo jumbo.
A) I talk to myself.
2) Today at church, I had the overwhelming feeling of the Spirit. I KNEW that we are all children of our Heavenly Father. That He knows us. That He loves us. Then as I went to nursery with my mom, I knew that those children were His children and that Heavenly Father loves them and entrusted them in their parents care. Then, I knew that someday God is going to entrust me with children that He loves. And then I knew that I was going to have to get over this battle I have with myself and embrace the fact that I am a daughter of Heavenly Father and He loves me enough that He will entrust me with that great responsibility someday.
